About
General Service Committees

General Service Committees are part of the AA service structure that involve a partnership among groups in a community – just as AA groups themselves are partnerships of individuals. They exist to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
More information on each committee can be found on our main website at Service Committees – Edmonton AA, or in the AA Service Manual from which we take this most notable quote: “Intergroup/central offices and general service area committees are complementary, rather than competitive AA operations. Both exist to help insure AA unity and to fulfill AA’s primary purpose of carrying the message.“
